The Pacific partnering with Open Education Consortium through USP, by Matai Tagicaki

The University of the South Pacific, through the Center for Flexible Learning, have now become Institutional members of the Open Education Consortium. This is wonderful news for all Pacific Island Nation and citizens of the Oceania region. Our learners and Educators now are a part of a globally dynamic  network of educational institutions who believe in openness in education globally.

How does this benefit the Pacific community? Pacific communities, through the University of the South Pacific,  can now be part of the global movement of knowledge sharing in a global network of education.

Open Distance and Flexible learning is actively acknowledged now as an appropriate and effective way of bringing education to all Pacific Island communities. With the available technology and support from our Global partners like Commonwealth of Learning, AusAID and now O.E.C network, our people will have the capacity to access quality, free and affordable learning resources to empower themselves and their communities.

Vinaka USP.
