PACFOLD in 2017

It certainly has been an active year with PACFOLD thanks to our friends, partners and collaborators who have provided trust, support and fellowship. This is a short look back with appreciation for 2017.

PACIFIC OER TVET WORKSHOP

“In line with country priorities to increase access to improved quality skills training, COL has been supporting the development of flexible learning materials with TVSD partners for some years. Two Regional TVET workshops have been held and in-country support provided for PNG, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Samoa and Fiji. The first workshop culminated with 7 agreements – many of which have been actioned.”

PACIFIC REGION OER CONSULTATION

The Pacific Regional Consultation on Open Educational Resources (RCOER) was organised by COL and held on 29-30 May, 2017 in Auckland, in partnership with the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand. The theme of the regional consultation was “OER for Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education: From Commitment to Action.”

2nd OER WORLD CONGRESS

The second World Open Educational Resources (OER) Congress closed as experts and national delegates from 111 countries adopted by acclamation the 2017 Ljubljana OER Action Plan. The 2017 Ljubljana OER Action Plan presents 41 recommended actions to mainstream open-licensed resources to help all Member States to build Knowledge Societies and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 4 on “quality and lifelong education.”

PACIFIC HEADS OF EDUCATION SYSTEM 2017 CONSULTATION

“The Pacific Open, Distance and Flexible Learning Framework (PODFLF) has been formulated in response to the endorsement by the Pacific Heads of Education System (PHES) to address precipitating social and economic challenges, due to the lack of successful inclusive and equitable access to quality education within the Pacific Region.”

The Pacific ODFL Framework, which was developed through collaboration between USP, USP Pacific TAFE, PIFS, SPC and PACFOLD, was presented at the PHES Consultation and was adopted by PHES.
